Hummingbirds are one of the most popular bird species native to the Americas and belong to biological family Trochilidae. The smallest one being the bee hummingbirds that measure   5 cm (2.0 in) and weighs approximately 2.0 g (0.07 oz). The largest hummingbird noticed was 23 cm (9.1 in) giant hummingbird and weight upto  2.0 g (0.07 oz). According to the International Ornithologists’ Union offers, there are  360 hummingbird species exist on planet Earth and all these are distributed among 112 genera. Two species of hummingbirds are extinct namely Brace’s emerald and Gould’s emerald. Here is the list of all 360 types of hummingbirds in the world,

1. Crimson topaz

This is one of the most beautiful types of hummingbirds mostly seen in Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. It can reach upto a length of 21–23 centimetres and weight about 10 grams.

2. Fiery topaz

The species is known for its beautiful plumage and native to the northern South America where its depends on nectar and insects.

3. White-necked jacobin

White-necked jacobin is a bit large and beautiful hummingbird native to the  Mexico, south to Peru, Bolivia and south Brazil. It is also known as great jacobin and collared hummingbird. It prefer tall trees for nectar and also hawk for insects.

4. Black jacobin

Black jacobin is a beautiful type of humminbird mostly seen in the Atlantic Forest of eastern Brazil, Uruguay, eastern Paraguay, and far north-eastern Argentina.

5. White-tipped sicklebill

White-tipped sicklebill is native to the Costa Rica and Panama of Central America, and Colombia, Ecuador, and far northern Peru. The bill is curved in the adaptation of certain flowers mostly genera Centropogon and Heliconia.

6. Buff-tailed sicklebill

Buff-tailed sicklebill hummingbird is native to the Amazonian lowlands from southern Colombia and northern Ecuador to Peru and Bolivia. It can grow upto 5–6 in (13–15 cm) and wieghs approximately 8-12.5 gms.

7. Saw-billed hermit

Saw-billed hermit is one of the amazing types of hummingbirds mostly seen in southeastern Brazil and belongs to the genus Ramphodon.

8. Hook-billed hermit

Hook-billed hermit is the endangered species of hummingbird native to the humid forests in eastern Brazil. The species is threatened by habitat loss and even changing migration patterns.

9. Bronzy hermit

Bronzy hermit is a species of hummingbird mostly seen in the forests and thickets from eastern Honduras south to western Panama, and in the Chocó of western Colombia and north-western Ecuador.The bird species is very similar to the rufous-breasted hermit.

10. Rufous-breasted hermit

Rufous-breasted hermit also known as hairy hermit is a hummingbird species mostly seen in the  Panama south to Bolivia, and on Trinidad, Tobago and Grenada. On an average, it can grow 10.7 cm (4.2 in) long and weighs 7 g (0.25 oz).

Little hermit is also one o f the amazing types of hummingbirds mostly seen in the north-eastern Venezuel, northern Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana and Trinidad. The food of the species is nectar taken from wide variety of flowers.

18. Tapajós hermit

Tapajós hermit is the species of hummingbird mostly seen in the south-eastern Amazon in Brazil. It was first described in the year 1950  as a subspecies of the little hermit. It is very closely related to the black-throated hermit.

19. Minute hermit

Minute hermit is the species of hummingbird native to the umid Atlantic Forest in south-eastern Brazil. It can grow up to 6.7 centimetres long and weight under 3 grams.

20. Cinnamon-throated hermit

Cinnamon-throated hermit is the species of hummingbird endemic to the semi-humid belt along the southern edge of the Amazon Rainforest of north-eastern Bolivia north-east to Maranhão in Brazil.

21. Black-throated hermit

Black-throated hermit is the species of hummingbirds mostly seen in the  Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. It loves to eat anthropods of the flowering plant such as Costus, Aechmea, Palicourea and Drymonia.

22. Stripe-throated hermit

Stripe-throated hermit is the species of hummingbird native to  Central America and north-western South America. It can grow upto  length of 9–10 cm and wieghs approximately 2–3 g.

Reddish hermit is a species of humming bird mostly seen in the Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, and in the Guianas. It can grow upto 7.5 cm (3 in) and a weight under 3 grams.
